Gigago vs a Viettel eSIM for Vietnam
Gigago is a reseller of Vietnamese travel eSIMs, and so are we. That means the network you get is the same on both sites — what differs is the price, the daily allowance you get for it, and what each of us tells you about the limits. Every figure below was read off gigago.com and off this site on 28 September 2026. If you are reading much later, open both pages: a price copied into an article is a price that will eventually be wrong.
Same carrier, one dollar apart
Gigago sells Viettel, Vinaphone and Skyfi plans, exactly the carriers sold here. Comparing like for like — same carrier, same daily allowance, same number of days — their prices on 28 September 2026 were: Viettel 5GB a day at $10.90 for 7 days, $13.90 for 15 days and $19.90 for 30 days. The same three plans on this site are $9.90, $12.90 and $18.90. That is one dollar less on each.
The gap is wider on two plans. Gigago's Skyfi 7GB a day for 15 days was $13.90; the same plan here is $11.00. And at $10.90 both shops sell a Vinaphone plan for 7 days — theirs gives 2GB a day, ours gives 5GB a day. Same money, two and a half times the allowance.
Gigago also runs promotional codes. On the day this was written the banner offered 15% off, which would put their Viettel 7-day plan below ours. A code with an expiry date is a real saving while it lasts and nothing once it ends, so check whether one is live before you decide on price alone.
What neither page should hide
A Viettel plan is data-only on both sites. It has no Vietnamese phone number, it cannot receive calls or SMS, and it cannot receive the verification codes banks and apps send. If you need a +84 number that rings, you need a Vinaphone plan — and even then it receives ordinary calls and texts, not app or bank codes. These are prepaid tourist lines, not lines registered in your name, so automated codes do not reach them on any Vietnam travel eSIM we know of.
Gigago states the same limit on their own product page: their Vinaphone plan is described as a number for receiving. Neither of us can sell you a Vietnamese number that signs you up for a banking app.
One difference worth knowing before you buy: Gigago's own page warns that a daily plan resets at 23:59 Vietnam time and that activating late — their example is 11 PM — still counts as a full day. The day plans sold here work the same way, which is why we ask you to install the eSIM and turn it on when you actually want the clock to start.
When Gigago is the simpler buy
If you are travelling through several countries on one trip, Gigago sells regional plans and we do not. Everything on this site covers Vietnam only. Buying one regional eSIM instead of one per country is less admin, and that is a real reason to use them rather than us.
We are a Viettel and Vinaphone dealer with a shop in Hanoi, trading since 2009, which matters mostly when something goes wrong and you want a person rather than a form. It does not make the data faster: on a Viettel plan bought anywhere, the network is the same Viettel network.

Is Gigago the same network as a Viettel eSIM?
It depends on the plan you pick, not on the shop. Gigago sells plans on Viettel, on Vinaphone and on Skyfi, and the plan name says which. A Viettel plan from Gigago runs on the Viettel network, the same network a Viettel plan from us runs on. Do not assume every Gigago plan is Viettel.
Is Gigago cheaper than buying here?

Does a Gigago eSIM give me a Vietnamese phone number?
Only on a Vinaphone plan, and only for receiving ordinary calls and SMS. Their Viettel plans are data-only, the same as ours. No Vietnam travel eSIM from either shop receives app or bank verification codes, because these are prepaid tourist lines rather than lines registered to a named subscriber.
Can I use one eSIM for Vietnam and a neighbouring country?
Not with anything sold here — every plan on this site covers Vietnam only. Gigago does sell regional plans, so for a multi-country trip that is the simpler purchase even though the price per gigabyte is usually higher than a local plan.
