Vietnam eSIM with a phone number — which plans have one, and how to get OTP
Most travel eSIMs for Vietnam are data-only — no number, so you cannot receive SMS OTP or calls. The exception is a Vinaphone eSIM: every Vinaphone plan (10, 15 and 30 days) comes with a real Vietnamese +84 number that receives SMS and incoming calls — so banking and app OTP codes arrive, and Grab drivers, hotels and restaurants can call you back. Viettel and Skyfi plans, like Airalo and Holafly, are data-only.
Which Vietnam eSIM comes with a phone number?
| eSIM option | Real VN number | Receive SMS / OTP | Receive calls | Make calls | Data |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Vinaphone (ours) | Yes · +84 | ✓ Yes | ✓ Yes | ✗ No | 5GB/day |
| Viettel / Skyfi (ours) | ✗ No | ✗ No | ✗ No | ✗ No | 5GB/day |
| Airalo / Holafly / typical travel eSIM | ✗ No | ✗ No | ✗ No | ✗ No | 5GB/day |
*No plan can make outgoing calls or send SMS — the carrier blocks outbound service on these tourist SIMs, and topping up the prepaid balance does not unlock it. The number still receives calls and SMS normally. To call out, use a data app such as WhatsApp, Zalo or Messenger.
What the Vinaphone number can — and can’t — do
- ✅ Receive SMS and OTP codes (banking, Zalo, Grab, WhatsApp, Google, app sign-ups)
- ✅ Receive incoming calls (Grab / Xanh SM drivers, hotels, restaurants, tour guides)
- ✅ Full 5GB/day high-speed data on the same eSIM
- ❌ Make outgoing calls — not included on any plan (receive-only)
- ❌ Send outgoing SMS — not offered
Why you need a Vietnamese number in Vietnam
Drivers call to find you at busy pickup points. No number means missed rides.
Many apps and card payments send a one-time code by SMS to a local number.
Reservations and front desks call back to confirm — a reachable number saves the booking.
Zalo (Vietnam’s default chat) and many local services verify by SMS to a +84 number.
How to get a Vietnam eSIM with OTP in 3 steps
- 1Pick a Vinaphone plan
Choose a 10, 15 or 30-day Vinaphone plan — every one includes a real +84 number. Data-only Viettel/Skyfi plans do not.
- 2Install the eSIM QR
We email your QR within about 60 seconds of payment. Scan it and you are online in about a minute once you reach Vietnam.
- 3Receive OTP & calls
Your +84 number is live — SMS OTP codes arrive and Grab, hotels and contacts can call you. No SIM swap, no shop queue.
Vinaphone plans with a real phone number
Every plan below is 5GB/day at full 4G/5G speed and includes a Vietnamese +84 number that receives SMS/OTP and calls.

- • 5GB/day high-speed data
- • 10-day validity
- • Vinaphone carrier
All eSIMs on this site are tourist eSIMs. When the validity period ends the eSIM is deactivated automatically and the validity cannot be extended — buy another plan if you need more days. Running low on data is different: on Viettel plans extra data can be added through the carrier during the plan, so you are not stuck waiting for midnight.
