Does Uber work in Vietnam?
Works, with caveats
Uber works in Vietnam, but with a caveat — see the detail below. For everyday internet you only need data; a Vietnam eSIM covers that.
Detail: Uber does not operate in Vietnam — use Grab, Be or Gojek instead.
Using Uber on a Vietnam eSIM
Install a Vietnam eSIM before you fly, set it as your data line on arrival, and open Uber as normal. 5GB/day easily covers messaging, maps and video calls.
Get online in Vietnam
5GB/day from $8, direct from an authorized Viettel & Vinaphone dealer. The Vinaphone plan gives you a real +84 number for incoming calls and ordinary SMS — though not for app verification codes.
Other apps in Vietnam
Checked for Vietnam, 2026. Apps work over mobile data unless noted; availability can change.
